Hello and welcome to the new week!

Welcome to an exciting and promising week ahead! We are so happy to have you back for the new school year! Let’s jump right in.


A brief and friendly reminder that we will be at Liturgy on Monday morning for the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. Please drop off your child(ren) by 8 a.m., and all students should wear their regular uniforms.

Who’s excited for Movie Night? On Friday, September 15th at 6 pm, our lovely Parent Association will be hosting a movie night at Holy Trinity on Brotherhood Way. The featured film will be Wall-E and there will be fasting popcorn provided. You are welcome to bring other fasting snacks as well! Definitely a night not to miss!

Mrs. Goldshlag is leading a Math Club for 4th through 8th graders starting in September. The goal is to prepare students for annual math contests like Math League and Kanguru, traditionally held in the spring, with separate sessions for 4th and 5th graders and 7th and 8th graders meeting every other week. Interested participants are encouraged to reach out to Mr. Duncan or Mrs. Goldshlag.

Now let's look at what the week ahead is going to look like:

MONDAY:

Liturgy at 8am for the Beheading of St. John the Baptist

K-1 Grade History will start learning about Ancient Mesopotamia

4th/5th Grade History will be learning about nomads, early farmers, and begin studying Ancient Egypt.

6-8th Grade History, students will be preparing for their first project; a research presentation on pirates.

TUESDAY:

4th/5th Math will have a Quiz 1

5th Grade English will students will be reading Gulliver's travels.

6-8th Grade Latin, Students will be learning Latin tongue twisters like "ō Tite tūte Tatī tibi tanta tyrrane tulistī!"

WEDNESDAY:

4th/5th Grade Science is learning about orbit, tilt, seasons, and eclipses

6th Grade English will continuing to read "The Wind in the Willows" and exploring symbols/themes.

Drama students will be practicing improv acting

THURSDAY: 

6-8th Grade Science starts studying the properties of matter and how to measure changes

7th/8th Grade English continues to explore the theme of family relationships in "As You Like It."

High School Greek will be learning "Glory to the Father..." in Greek.

Friday: 

8th Grade Math starts the Pythagorean theorem review, terminology when comparing angles

10-12th Grade English starts "The Scarlet Letter," and learning about the five cannons of rhetoric.
