Middle School and High School visit elephant seal population in AÑo Nuevo State Park
On Friday, January 17, the high school and middle school enjoyed an all-day field trip for a 2 1/2 mile tour of Año Nuevo State Park. Elephant seals (Mirounga angustirostris) arrive at the park every winter to set up the breeding grounds, mate, and give birth. The walk was was led by a trained docent. The docent said the students were exceptionally pleasant and acted as great ambassadors for St John's Academy! It was a very educational and exciting experience for our students. A very big thank you to Ms. Newman for organizing this tour, and to all the parents who volunteered to drive and chaperone.
